Philip Langbroek

Dr. Philip M. Langbroek is professor of Justice Administration and Judicial organisation  at the Utrecht School of Law, Utrecht University, the Netherlands.

Trained in public administration and law, he has taught Dutch administrative law and public administration for many years and published widely on administrative law and Ombudsmen. Inspired by the change processes in the Dutch judiciary, Langbroek has focused his research on justice and court administration, and organised,directed and participated in several international research projects in this field. Other interests are ICT’s in justice organisations and transnational judicial cooperation in Europe.

Those interests  have resulted in many publications, some of which are: 

Langbroek chaired the EGPA studygroup on Management and  delivery of justice (2000-2006), and the EGPA Studygroup on Law and Public Administration. Currently he chairs the EGPA studygroup on Justice and Court Administration.  He is a member of the editorial board of Utrecht Law Review (www.utrechtlawreview.org) and is managing editor of the International Journal for Court Administration (www.iacajournal.org). Furthermore he is member of the editorial board of the SchriftenReihe Justizforschung, published by Stämpfli Verlag AG, Bern, Switserland; Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft, Baden-Baden, Germany; and Jan Schramek Verlag KG, Vienna, Austria.

To date he is the Head of the Institute for Jurisprudence, Constitutional and Administrative Law of Utrecht School of Law.
