Umar Azmeh 

Umar is the Registrar of the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC), where he oversees all cases before the QFC Court and Regulatory Tribunal, and also serves as

 a member of the senior management team and Judicial Advisory Board.  He is a dual-qualified solicitor and barrister, and has practised as a self-employed barrister, within government for the Attorney General for England and Wales, and in private practice as a solicitor. Umar has a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford (Worcester College), where he graduated at the top of his class, and is currently undertaking a doctorate in law from the same university (St Anne’s College). In 2024, he was awarded the Middle East Legal Personality of the Year award at the inaugural LexisNexis Middle East Law Awards, and was shortlisted in the final 3 for Government Lawyer of the Year in the 2025 edition of the Awards. In April 2025, his co-authored book, Azmeh and Nicol on the Law and Practice of the QFC Civil and Commercial Court and Regulatory Tribunal was published, which is a thematic account of the law and procedure at the QICDRC.
